报 告 摘 要:
Star formation plays a central role in galaxy formation and evolution, and has a defining impact on the formation of planetary systems. To understand how stars form from an accumulation of gas and dust is essential to astrophysics. Observational studies of star formation in our own Galaxy are unique to unravel detailed processes of star formation. Here in this talk I will introduce our recent observational efforts focused on several key questions in Galactic star formation, presenting the results of a comprehensive survey of a very massive and vibrant giant molecular cloud (GMC) and multi-scale surveys of dust polarization in star-forming regions in the Milky Way.
主讲嘉宾简介：
Keping Qiu is a professor in School of Astronomy and Space Science, Nanjing University. He obtained B.S. and PhD degrees in Nanjing University in 2002 and 2009, respectively, and was a predoctoral fellow in Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in 2006 to 2009. Afterwards he carried out postdoc research in Max-Planck Institute for Radioastronomy in 2010 to 2012, and joined Nanjing University as a professor in late 2012. His research interests include Galactic star formation, interstellar dust polarization, radio interferometry, and Galactic HI surveys. He was awarded funding from the Young Thousand Talent Program in 2012, and from NSFC for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2024.
